DM series hard drives, such as DM001, DM003, have a common problem, that is, fake ready, that is, after the hard disk firmware is damaged, the hard drive can be ready after power on, but the capacity to identify is 3.8GB. At that time no ATA instructions can be performed, and users can’t enter terminal T level, thus can not perform any terminal instructions. Since any instruction can not be implemented, no hard disk can be repaired. This state is called fake ready fault. Fake ready is not the same with the firmware lock. With firmware lock, users is still able to enter the T-level, and also to perform a small number of instructions, but the fake ready state is that any instructions can not be implemented. There is no solution for this problem before, but now, MRT has launched its own solution, specifically to deal with fake ready DM hard drives, which is definitely a major breakthrough.
MRT Pro is an innovative hardware software solution for data recovery. It supports HDDs from various manufacturers. The English version of the software was released in April 2013. This video provides viewer with a clear understanding of the features and functions of the software.
How to use MRT Pro to rebuild ROM Modules on Western Digital HDD
Menu button: Test -> Work with SA -> Work with ROM -> Rebuild ROM from SA
Shortcut button on the main toolbar: Work with ROM -> Rebuild ROM from SA
Application: When there is error or damage to ROM or ROM module data, we can read firmware of fault HDD by loading LDR. We can use this function to get data from firmware and adapt new ROM and ROM module.
1. Set the file save path in advance. Generally, the default path is OK.
2. Select whether ROM or ROM module is to be adapted with the radio button in path editing box.
3. Choose the read mode of SA firmware data. You can choose Copy0 or Copy1 by selecting By Track or By ABA.
4. Press “OK” button. The program will generate new ROM and ROM module automatically.
5. If the generation succeeds, Click “Write to HDD”.
6. About the log: There are several log messages when generating each module. As long as the last log message indicates success, the module is generated successfully.
How to use MRT Pro to edit ROM headmap on Western Digital HDD
Menu of editing ROM headmap:
Test -> Work with SA ->Work with ROM ->Edit ROM headmap
Application: This function is to correct error headmap data or disable head temporarily to make fault diagnosis easier.
Step-by-step Instruction: Select the heads to be used in headmap setting list.
This video illustrates how to test service area structure using MRT Pro.This function is to read module data in firmware zone, parse the module header and calculate check code in order to test if the module data are correct.
